• Welcome To Georgina’s Gang

Georgina's Gang is a Guernsey registered charity (no. 316) dedicated to those in the Bailiwick Of Guernsey affected by the condition Niemann Pick Type C (NPC). NPC is an extremely rare and devastating condition. Currently there is only one person in the whole of the Channel Islands affected by the condition - Georgina Pearce (we hope it stays that way).

Kevin loses for Georgina

Kevin Allen recently did a sponsored slim for Georgina’s Gang. He lost an impressive amount and was kindly sponsored by his colleagues at Kleinwort Benson in order to gain an even more impressive amount of £220.00, you could say  his loss is our gain!!!!  Thanks Kevin  it is very much appreciated.

A Surprise from L.A.C.E.

Every year Tim Langlois takes some beautiful pictures at the Hint of Pink Ball and Sue Kirk from L.A.C.E. has said to me many times we should get a big family picture done.  Now it may sound silly but it is really hard to chose especially when Ian and I don’t get time to sit down and  chose one together. Unknown to us Sue did some mufti days where she works at Norman Piette and with Tim Langlois’s help chose a picture for us, a picture for Jessica and a picture for my mum, all blown up and put on a canvus. I can’t tell you how touched we are, and we all shed a tear or two! The pictures are beautiful and Sue was so right! Many many thanks to Sue, Tim and the staff at Norman Piette

Quiz Night

The quiz night was a great success, maybe a little too successful as it was jam packed! Firstly may we apologise to anyone who couldn’t hear properly or was squashed! Questions were supplied by Jarrod Avery and some were quite testing! The winning team was The Knights who say Nay with 132 points. Each member of the team received a bottle of wine and a special Georgina’s Gang Medal. The losers were very aptly named The No Ideas! and each received a wooden spoon.  Many thanks to the KGV for the venue, Paula for the food, Jarrod for the questions Donna and Cathy for marking and to Jo for organising the event. As Jo said ‘considering I have never done anything like that before I had a great time and just hope I did ok’

Lynn and Emily raise over £500 whilst fasting!

Mother and daughter Lynn and Emily Henningsen fasted for 31 days from 7th March to 7th April and raised a fabulous amount of money. Lynn laid off goodies like wine and anything with chocolate in it while Emily gave up everything with  chocolate and crisps They raised £286.00 and Lynn’s company Microgen gave them £250.00 Thanks!

Ian’s doing the Fathers Day Half Marathon

Ian has been inspired by the many runners he knows and is going to do the Fathers Day Half Marathon here in Guernsey. Ian and his youngest daughter Jessica do lots of events for other charities, it is their way of repaying everyones kindness to the family. With this in mind Ian has decided to run for the Niemann-Pick Disease Group (UK) The group do fantastic work with families facing this truly awful disease, they have a wealth of knowledge and help with both practical and emotional support. They are also involved in medical research and co-ordinate with top people all over the world.

The family know there will never be a cure in Georgina’s life time but aspire to helping all families with this disease and the ultimate goal is that no family will have to suffer the same fate.

If you would like to help and sponsor Ian you can contact us through this website or go click on the link below

Thank you!

When I was discussing this with Georgina I asked if she would have a message for Dad, she said she would say, ‘Where did you go Daddy? come back and give me my golden nuggets! You guessed it, it was at breakfast!

Hint of Pink Ball 2011

Well we can’t believe it is over already and what a night! It was brilliant. We had Alison Castle singing with her band at the drinks reception, where we had free Pink Champagne, Tim Langlois took photos and made Georgina feel like a superstar, these can now be viewed and purchased at www.langloisphotography.com

Next we went into the Fontaine room where Ian did a little speech and Sarah presented a cheque for £1,500 to Jackie Imrie, the UK’s clinical nurse for Niemann Pick Disease. Ian finished off with some Georgina-isms. He had prepared a laminated sheet to show everyone what is happening and where the money is going just so that he didn’t rabbit on to long. During dinner the fabulous Lars Henningsen entertained everyone and we had some table games resulting in the presentation of several bottles of champers which went down very well. Jenny Kendall-Tobias from BBC Guernsey radio helped keep everything on track.

At dessert we had the raffle which included some fabulous prizes like a television,  a PS3, Wii, various mobile phones, various vouchers, meals out, beauty products and more. Finally the totally awesome City Limits got up to play and I think the whole room got up to dance!

The adding up has been done and we raised a staggering £6,171.00 We are all over the moon, it is great to raise such alot of money whilst having an awesome time, thanks to everyone in the Gang, thats everyone that has ever donated in any way.
